Don't let missing or damaged teeth hold you back

What are Dental Crowns & Bridges?

A dental crown, often called a “cap,” is a custom-made restoration that covers the entire visible part of a damaged tooth. It’s a great way to protect a weak tooth from breaking, hold parts of a cracked tooth together, or cover a tooth that has had a root canal. Crowns are designed to restore the tooth’s shape, size, strength, and appearance.

A dental bridge is a permanent solution used to “bridge” the gap created by one or more missing teeth. It’s made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap, with a false tooth (or teeth) in between. The supporting teeth are called abutment teeth, and the false tooth is called a pontic. This device is cemented in place and helps restore your smile and bite.

Types of Dental Crowns

We offer a range of dental crowns to suit your specific needs, budget, and aesthetic goals. The main types include:

Porcelain &
Ceramic Crowns

They are a great choice for front teeth as they can be matched to the color of your surrounding teeth.

Zirconia
Crowns

Known for their exceptional strength and durability, zirconia crowns are an excellent option for back teeth that endure heavy chewing forces.

Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM)
Crowns

These crowns combine the strength of a metal base with the natural look of a porcelain outer layer.

Types of Dental Bridges

The type of dental bridge best for you depends on your specific situation. The most common types are:

Traditional
Bridges

This is the most common type of bridge, used when there are natural teeth on both sides of the gap.

Cantilever
Bridges

This type of bridge is used when there are natural teeth on only one side of the gap. The bridge is supported by a crown on one side only.

Maryland
Bridges

Also known as a resin-bonded bridge, this is a more conservative option. A false tooth is held in place by a metal or porcelain framework.

Who Needs Crowns & Bridges?

You might be a candidate for a dental crown or bridge if you have:

Dental Crown Procedure

Initial Consultation & Planning

Our dentist will examine your teeth and take X-rays to assess the health of the tooth and surrounding bone. We'll discuss your goals and create a personalized treatment plan for you.

Tooth
Preparation

First, we’ll numb the area so you won't feel a thing. The tooth receiving the crown or supporting the bridge is then carefully shaped to make room for the restoration.

Taking
Impressions

A highly accurate impression of your teeth is taken. This impression serves as a blueprint for our dental lab, where your custom crown or bridge will be crafted to perfectly match your bite and smile.

Temporary Restoration

While your permanent crown or bridge is being made, we'll place a temporary one to protect the prepared tooth and maintain your smile's appearance.

Final Placement

Once your custom-made restoration is ready, you'll return for your second appointment. We will remove the temporary crown or bridge, check the fit, color, and comfort of the new one, and then securely bond it into place.

Guru PM

The clinic is exceptionally clean, modern, and so conveniently located, which adds to the overall positive experience. From my initial consultation to comprehensive treatments — three crowns (including a challenging one over a rejected implant previously done) and veneers — to my son's comfortable consultation and cleaning, every aspect of our visit was exceptional.

Aparna

I recently visited Dr. Vishwas for a crown replacement, and I must say he is the best dentist I’ve encountered so far. His work is seamless, and the overall experience was excellent. I highly recommend Summit Dental Clinic. The clinic has a positive vibe that instantly puts you at ease. Despite the usual anxiety associated with doctor visits, seeing Dr. Vishwas is always a pleasure.

Crowns and Bridges:
Your Questions Answered

Is the procedure painful?

No. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so you will not feel any pain. You may experience some mild sensitivity or discomfort after the anesthesia wears off, but this usually subsides within a few days.

How long do crowns and bridges last?

With proper care and good oral hygiene, dental crowns and bridges can last for 10 to 15 years, or even longer.

What materials are used for crowns and bridges?

We offer a variety of materials, including porcelain, ceramic, zirconia, and porcelain-fused-to-metal, to meet your specific needs and aesthetic preferences.

How do I take care of my new crown or bridge?

Care is simple and similar to your natural teeth. Brush twice a day, floss daily, and maintain your regular dental check-ups at our clinic.

How much does a crown or bridge cost?

The cost depends on the type of material chosen and the complexity of the case. We will provide a detailed treatment plan and cost estimate after your initial consultation.

Can a crown or bridge get a cavity?

The crown or bridge itself cannot get a cavity. However, the natural tooth underneath the crown is still susceptible to decay, and the gums around a bridge can be affected by gum disease if not cleaned properly.

Can a dental bridge replace multiple missing teeth?

Yes, a single dental bridge can be used to replace one or more missing teeth. Your dentist will determine the best solution for your unique case during your consultation.
